DREAM A LITTLE LONGER
by
Stephen D. Rogers
I woke from a dream in which I woke from a dream.
In the real dream my grandfather was standing at the foot of my
bed even though he passed away last March. What he said to me
was this: "If you ever wake from a dream in which you wake from
a dream, believe nothing you are told."
I promised him I would do no such thing.
He nodded, obviously satisfied.
I was not. "Why did you die? Couldn't you have stayed with us a
little longer?"
"But I am a little longer."
I measured him, and he was.
