VOLITION

Poetry by Michael D. Brown

Because
more feminine
than the rising sun
the moon curves,
dressed in a single white polkadot
like the spot you left
on my heart with your bottle
of whiteout, your intention
to fill the void
with commitments
only a signature can make.
I license you to freedom
of choice.

BATHSHEBA

Poetry by Michael D. Brown

My woman sunbathes
Water encircles her perfect form
with ripples in the lake.
Her reflection is a refracted original.
The artist in me grids
every section of her frame,
proportionate by design,
her body clothed in light
and stroked by air.
Bathsheba bathed
in the eyes of David.
-It is good to be
the king!
