NINE SHORT POEMS FROM THE BIBLE
Poetry
by Walter Maroney

Genesis
So much work.
Don't bother Me.
I'm resting.
Eden and After
They disappoint you.
Always.
Don't have children.
The Book of Job
My life sucks.
No it doesn't.
Yes it does....
(No god).
Abraham and Isaac
All the way home he stared at me.
How will he treat his children?
My legacy. Big promise.
Moses in Egypt
Why won't you listen? There!
There! There! There! There!
There! There! There! There!
There!
Now will you listen?
Moses at the Promised Land
First born. I understand now.
Not even Egyptians deserved that.
Why aren't You sorry?
Jesus
It's all my Mom's fault.
The wine, she wouldn't listen.
I was scared.
St. Paul to the Ephesians
Forsaken? I think not.
And if it makes no sense
Then I will make it.
I am the temple.
St. John’s Apocalypse
I saw four horses.
I saw the Lord.
He was not the man I remembered.
I’m old.
