WINGS OF FLIGHT

by Sherra Gray

you appeared
shrouded in anonymity
singing songs of praise
cooing encouragement

to this severed vessel
fulfilling with echoes of melodies
pure
clear
danceable

taking my wounded wings
in tender ministrations
of care and sweet adoration
rehabilitating the relinquished
restorative murmurings
ushering healing

you returned to me
the wings of flight
long left useless and abandoned
stored in the cage of yesterdays dreams
long since shattered

perched precariously,
I leap...
