WOMAN
by Maria Theresa Ib
She harbors thousands of possible
children; scraping the night
off their eyelids. They
graze on her, devoutly as antelope. She is an
oasis
breathing. They are anchored to her waters,
forgone
by blood and bone. Monthly, she hollows and
inflates:
a human moon.
