Flash Fiction
HIDDEN
by
Ellen Parker
TWIN CELLS
She has two identical cell phones. One she uses only to call her lover. The
pages-long bill is sent to a P.O. box. The other phone is for anyone. That
brief bill is sent to her home, for her husband to pay.
BAGGED POCKETS
She keeps her lover's letters in a pocket of a coat bagged in plastic. The
pocket is beginning to bulge. Soon she'll need the other one as well. What
happens when both pockets are full? She'll bag another coat.
NEARLY OUTED
One recent morning, in the walk-in closet, her husband came upon her,
standing near her bagged coat, talking on her secret cell phone. "Come out
of the closet," her husband said. "I will," she said, covering the cell, "as
soon as I'm ready."
