Another Realm - the World of the Maasai Mara

Alexandra Thompson, a world traveler, writer and photography artist likes to experiment with images, as well as capture classic photographs by time-honored methods.

When offered a choice of Standard prints or Emulsion/image transfers, Literary Potpourri was greedy and wanted both!

This essay is a combination of the two to show you the work she does:

Our cover photo, and the first three photographs of the following essay are image transfers, accomplished by projecting her own slides onto peel-apart Polaroid 669 film, and then pressing the negative into very high quality Arches watercolor paper. The results are images with an unusual, otherworldly feel about them. These photos are slides Alexandra took in Kenya, and what she likes about them in particular are the way they remind her of the timelessness and the rawness she felt on the Maasai Mara.

But then, there are the landscapes....and they are beautiful just as they are. And we have included a collection of those following the image transfers, because we're thrilled with all of Alexandra's work.
