Poem
A WOMAN, STANDING STILL
by
Ward Kelley

A woman, stands still in the street,
in the night, at the end of a summer
storm . . . the rain has nearly stopped,
but a few dog-eye drops make quite
a substantial sound when they hit
the asphalt. She stares at the bedroom
window where you stand. As angry as
you are, you would still give her anything
except this argument, to know what her neck
smells like after this rain, after all that's been said.
