Guidelines for Photography & Graphic Art
Please read the Sample Contract - link below - before submitting work.
We accept photographs, replicas of paintings, drawings, collage, statues, and abstracts in any variety of styles or content. We will consider erotica, but not pornography. We like an eclectic mix from issue to issue.
You may title the picture essay and/or add text or description to it, or leave it to editors to unite the work in some kind of theme. All open for discussion.
We will publish black/white tiffs (if available)in the print journal. If your work is selected for the website, it will be reproduced in color jpgs or gifs.
Quality
Before submitting, please calibrate your monitor correctly. All graphics must have professional technical qualities and must have good tonal and color range on both Windows and Mac monitors. Images should be visually free of borders, attributions, or copyright notices, although they may be digitally watermarked. Width of 400 to 600 pixels is preferred, but larger sizes, within reason, are accepted.
How to Send
Submissions will be accepted via email only - please attach .jpgs to email. (Do not send .tiffs until work is accepted.) Send approximately seven to ten samples of work, if possible, from which we will select five or six for an essay.
Submissions must include all of the supplementary information in the cover letter of your submission. We delete submissions unread if the guidelines have not been followed.
We will not review any work that does not include:
Name,
Email address,
Postal address,
Short (~ 50 word) third-person biography,
Payment preference (see below).
We also request a photo of the artist/photographer to accompany the essay.
If you wish your email address, or the URL of your personal website, to appear in Ink Pot or on this website, include that information within the text of your biography.
As the Subject line of your email, please use: PH, Your Name, number of .jpgs. (PH = Photography)
